Our Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum rooms (LDRPs) offer parents the best of both home and hospital - comfortable, medically state-of-the-art accommodations. Also, if desired, we offer epidurals for pain management during labor allowing for a more comfortable experience while you bring your new life into the world.
Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum Rooms (LDRP)
Our birthing service has two LDRP rooms. Each is designed for use throughout the labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum process. Specialized furnishings allow LDRPs to be equipped for the safe arrival of your newborn and, at the same time, to provide a home-like setting for the birth of your baby. The rooms are decorated with wood furniture, attractive bed linen, and wall coverings. There is also room for a visitor to stay overnight if wanted. The room is furnished with a full size pull out couch for a restful stay. After delivery, the LDRP becomes the perfect private environment for you and your family to bond with your newborn.
Our nursery contains bassinets, the latest monitoring devices, and emergency equipment required for handling unforeseen emergencies. A specially trained nurse who participates in continuing education is present whenever a baby is in the nursery. You can rest assured that your baby is in good hands with us.
Education For The New Parent
Perkins County Health Services provides several educational opportunities for parents:
- This class is taught by registered nurses. This individualized session covers prenatal care, labor and delivery, breast-feeding, and infant care. Fathers, or any partner of the mother's choice, are welcomed and encouraged to participate.
- Parents have many questions about caring for a newborn. The nursing staff can provide individualized teaching and infant care films. A few subjects include newborn development, feeding, and bathing. Perkins County Health Services has a Certified Lactation Consultant on staff to provide consultations if desired. Parents should feel free to ask our experienced nurses any questions they may have about infant or personal care. After returning home, parents are welcome to call Perkins County Health Services at any time for more information and support.
Car Seat Checks
- A certified car seat technician is onsite to help make sure baby makes it home safely. Any questions or concerns that a patient may have about the safety of a car seat can be answered by our qualified staff.
Fathers and siblings are welcome to visit during the day and evening, as are other family members and friends. Visitors are requested to limit their stays so that you may receive the care and rest you need following a delivery. Please understand that it is not healthy for sick visitors to be in the room with a newborn and visitors who show signs of contagious illness may be asked to exit the visiting areas.
Just For You
The staff of Perkins County Health Services would like to help make the birth of your baby as memorable and happy as possible. We are pleased to offer you a new baby gift pack when discharging.
